Best Time to Visit Jim Corbett

18 June 2026 · Travel Guides · 6 min read

Every season shows the forest a different way — from the tall winter grass of Dhikala to the green flood of monsoon. Here is how to choose your month.

Corbett is not one destination but four, each arriving with its own season. Ask a naturalist when to come and the answer will always begin with a question of their own: what do you hope to see?

Between November and February the grass is low, the air is cold and the light is long and gold by four in the afternoon. Sightings are at their most generous, and the riverbank fills with migratory birds that have crossed the Himalaya to winter here.

March to mid-June brings heat, and with heat comes thirst. Animals move predictably toward water, which makes the summer months the most reliable time for tiger sightings, particularly in the Bijrani and Jhirna zones.

The monsoon, from July to September, closes several zones but transforms the landscape entirely. Rivers run full, the sal forest turns almost black-green, and the resorts empty out. For travellers who value quiet over checklists, this is the finest time of year.

Whichever month you choose, book safari permits well in advance — our reservations team handles them alongside your stay.
