Nainital vs Bhimtal: Which Lake Town Is Right for You?

Nainital is a town that performs. Mall Road hums until late, the boats on Naini Lake are painted in bright colours, and the ridge above is lined with colonial rooftops.

Bhimtal is its opposite: larger, lower, greener and considerably quieter. There is an island in the middle of the lake, a handful of cafés along the shore, and very little else demanding your attention.

Choose Nainital if you want walkability, shopping and the pleasant noise of a hill station in season. Choose Bhimtal if the plan is to read, walk and eat well without leaving the property much.

Many guests split the difference — two nights in each, twenty minutes of hill road between them.
